The Christadelphians are a community with
members throughout the world, united by their determination to
follow the word of God as revealed in the Bible. They adopted
their name in the mid 1800's. The name is intended to cover
three Greek words, 'Brethren in Christ'.
Christadelphians are distinctive in that the
Bible is their only source of authority as far as religious
teaching and behaviour is concerned. There is no centralised
human authority and each congregation is completely independent.
They have no paid ministry.
They do not believe that any of
their members, past or present have received any special
revelation from God. Their faith rests solely and squarely on
the Bible as the inspired Word of God Christadelphians meet on Sundays to worship
God, and proclaim the gospel. They hold mid-week classes for
Bible study, organise young people's activities, preach in other
ways (by holding special meetings, producing films and video
tapes, arranging exhibitions such as this, and distributing
booklets and magazines free of charge). They also run homes for
the elderly and a Braille service for blind people.
